Marne van der Merwe (16) of Vaalwater participated in the Junior South African Woman’s Golf championship from 2-4 July hosted at Orkney.

Throughout the year Marne participated in various tournaments to prove her worth and won the Limpopo Woman’s Championship in the C-Division earlier this year.

Her continuous outstanding achievements resulted in her being chosen to partake in the Junior South African Woman’s Golf championship.

The competition was stiff throughout the four day tournament, but her passion and love for the game kicked in and she managed to claim first place in the C-Division at the recent championships.

“She has only been playing golf for three years, and we are extremely proud of her,” said her mother Riana van der Merwe.

Marne finished the tournament with 87 shots in the final round which led her to victory.
